The second annual gastronomical festival will be held on September 14 and 15 this year and in a new location, announced organizers Enrique Peraza Chavarín and Munir Aun yesterday.

The festival, called “Mazatlán Como Local,” will take place in the parking lot of the Teodoro Mariscal baseball stadium and will honour Alejandro Flores Curlango, owner of restaurant Mariscos Bahía, in business for 63 years, and the family owners of Tacos Figueroa famous for their machaca tacos in Mazatlán.

Not only is the festival for locals, but also for visitors to Mazatlán, said Peraza Chavarín. They will have the opportunity to sample dishes from 20 different restaurants.

One of the big advantages of this second festival is that with little money people can eat many things, he added.

The festival will be open from 11am to 11pm. Organizers advised they are expecting 5,000 people to attend.
To visit and participate in the gastronomical spread, attendees can purchase food with a coupon of 5 or 10 pesos each. Prices for dishes will be less than usually found at local restaurants.

As an extra this year, organizers are offering classes in the preparation of Thai, African, Japanese and Mexican food.

  1. Why not hold it in November when most of the snowbirds return to Mazatlan?

  2. There was one last winter around March that was quite successful. Very few snowbirds attended that one. They will be doing another one after the first of the year.
