Tourism Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu announced over the weekend
that the tourism sector will close the year with 8 percent higher
foreign currency gains than 2012.
“Everything started and is ending in 2013 on a good note,” she said.
The tourism sector, according to Ruiz Massieu has a multiplying
effect on other sectors of the economy, as well as development in the
localities that tourists visit.
She said that the business sector has announced a total investment of
over 112 billion pesos ($8.7 billion), which will be used to develop
176 projects in 27 tourist destinations. Projects include the
construction and remodeling of hotels, time-shares, airport
infrastructure, recreation parks, golf courses and marinas.
