Secretary of Tourism for the state of Sinaloa, Francisco Manuel
Córdova Celaya, said yesterday that Princess Cruise Lines is expected to
formally announce within the near future the return of its cruise ships
to the Mexican Riviera before the end of this year.
The Secretary of Tourism said the governor, Mario López Valdez, had been informally advised of the plans of the cruise lines, but that a formal announcement would be forthcoming either in México or at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention to be held next month in Miami, Florida.
Córdova Celaya said that in 2011 Mazatlán lost about 200 ports of calls because of concerns over security and that each lost port of call cost the city about $200,000.
