The Secretary of Tourism said that during Semana Santa last year the average hotel occupancy was 86 percent. This year the hotel occupancy is expected to average over 93 percent, with the occupancy level reaching 100% from Thursday through Sunday.
Traffic is also expected to heighten with a projected additional 100,000 cars on the city streets.
Francisco Cordova Celaya added that most of the Semana Santa vacationers will arrive primarily by car and mainly from the state of Sinaloa, but many from Durango, Torreon and Guadalajara.
