Sinaloa President of the Federacion de Camaras de Comercio said that despite damage to homes and property in Sinaloa by Hurricane Manuel on September 19 and Tropical Storm Sonia on October 4, both consumers and businesses have responded extraordinarily to this year’s Buen Fin discount shopping weekend.

Sales this year were up 12 percent over last year, totaling approximately three thousand million pesos in the State, of which 800 million pesos were spent by Mazatlecans. Participating businesses rose from 4,500 to 6,000, a 30 percent increase, he said.

Of the sales registered, 40 percent were fully paid in cash and the remaining 60 percent were paid by credit or debit card.

Plasma televisions, home appliances, cell phones and computer equipment were high on shoppers’ lists this year when participating shops and department stores offered discounts from 15 to 60 percent on marked items with easy payment terms.
