The skies between the U.S. and Mexico are soon to be flooded with Delta air carriers. The airline has been buzzing throughout the first half of this year announcing that it will expand its service to Mexico by 25 percent.
Most recently, Delta Air Lines announced that it would offer two new flights from San Diego and Seattle and a new non-stop flight from New York's JFK to Los Cabos. All of the new flights will begin in December, and will be accompanied by increased frequencies from other U.S. cities. Beginning on Decemeber 20, travelers from San Diego will be able to take a non-stop flight to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) via Delta Air Lines, seven days a week. The Seattle to Los Cabos flight will be available four times per week through January 10; afterward the flight will operate on Saturdays only.
The non-stop flight from JFK to Los Cabos will operate on Saturdays only from December 20 through June 27, 2015.
Additionally, Delta will increase service from Detroit, which currently offers one flight per week to Los Cabos, to daily non-stop service. As of December 20, the airline will also increase flights departing from Salt Lake City from four to seven flights per week and fromMinneapolis, eight flights per week will be available for travelers en route to Los Cabos with one flight departing daily and two on Saturdays.
In total, there will be 34 additional operations a week to Los Cabos via Delta Airlines which represents 25,000 to 30,000 additional seats per year.
Delta Air Lines will also begin to service Mazatlan International Airport with daily, non-stop flights from Los Angeles International Airport beginning on December 20. Delta Air Lines will become the first major airline to provide year-round flights to Mazatlan from Los Angeles, increasing air capacity by 15 percent.
Travel agents will now have access to more nonstop flights to Mexican destinations with Delta Vacations. The expanded service is aboard Delta Air Lines from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Atlanta and Salt Lake City to Los Cabos; and from Atlanta and Salt Lake City to Puerto Vallarta.
The added Minneapolis/St. Paul service begins November 8. The increased Atlanta and Salt Lake City services begin October 1. All flights are now available for booking.
We spoke with John Caldwell, president of MLT Vacations, which is the official vacations provider of Delta. "Typically when Delta begins service to new leisure destinations, MLT Vacations does add vacation packages to help fill the new flights. On the sales side, we support Delta's increased service by working through our sales team and business development managers to ensure our travel professional partners have the most up-to-date information about new routes and additional flights," he says.
Delta Vacations currently offers 15 leisure destinations throughout Mexico.
