How To: Stay Healthy On Your Trip To Mexico

mexicotravelvacationtips.com

So, we have all heard the “Don’t drink the water!” advice when we talk about our Mexico Vacation. However, there are some other ways to keep you healthy during your Mexico getaway.

Prevent Travelers’ Diarrhea (ugh!)

This is more common than most travellers realize. An estimated 10 million people contract travellers diarrhea every year, either in the first week of their trip, or even when they get home, with Latin America as one of the high risk places. Contaminated food or drinks are the primary source of infection.

To prevent this vacation disaster, try to avoid foods and drinks that are not properly prepared or handled. These foods can be found being sold by street vendors, or places outside of your hotel. Also, eating undercooked or raw foods can also cause this infection, so be sure to check your food properly.

STAY HYDRATED!

Keep Medical Records Handy

In case of emergency while on your Vacation to Mexico, be sure to keep a copy of your medical records handy.

Talking to your physician before you travel will be beneficial, so you know not only what kind of condition you are in, but also, they may be able to give you the correct advice on how to keep your medical records on your person while you travel. (Such as a Medical USB and/or a Medical History Travel Form)

Put Together a “Mexico First Aid Kit”

You never know what kind of accidents could arise while traveling, especially when you are Traveling with your Children.

Having a first aid kit while traveling is always a good decision, especially when traveling outside of the U.S.
The Mexico First Aid Kit could include: Bandages, Aspirin, Pepto Bismol (For Traveller’s Diarrhea), Thermometer, Fever Reducer, as well as any other allergy medication that you use.
