One hundred young people from twenty countries around the world, members of the Viva la Gente singing group, are in Mazatlán this week.

They are here to prepare for the presentation of their concert “Voces” (voices) to be performed at the Convention Center tomorrow evening at 7pm in a benefit for Proyecto Kometa, a local charity that promotes and develops programs for children and young people.

While in Mazatlán, the young singers are boarding with Mazatlecan families and when not practicing or enjoying the sites of the city, they will volunteer assistance at several charities including Padres y Compadres, Casa Down, Hogar San Pablo, Mazatlán Orphanage, Una Gota en el Océano, El Rancho de los Niños and the acquarium.

Héctor Anzaldua, co-ordinator of Viva la Gente with local authorities, told reporters that following performances in Mazatlán they will head to Culiacán and two cities in Sonora which will conclude their Mexican travels.

From Mexico, their next stops will be in Sweden and Denmark, with their final world tour performance to take place in Rome.

Tickets for the “Voces” performance at the Convention Center tomorrow evening can be purchased at the Angela Peralta Theater box office or by telephoning Proyecto Kometa at 669-112-1279.

As part of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2013, the young singers will give free concerts tonight at the esplanade in Colonia Francisco Villa at 7pm, and on Saturday at the Upsin building esplanade in Colonia Genaro Estrada at 7pm. (from Noroeste)
