25,000 Canadians and Americans to Visit Mazatlán

The Tourism Secretary said that 5,000 Canadians would visit the city this season along with 20,000 Americans.

With the tourist season, which ends in April of next year, just beginning, the Secretary of Tourism for the state of Sinaloa, Francisco Manuel Córdova Celaya, said the city is ready for the arriving Americans and Canadians who will spend up to the next five months in Mazatlán.
The Secretary said that 5,000 Canadians would visit the city this season along with 20,000 Americans.
Córdova Celaya noted that while staying in the city the international visitors contribute greatly to Mazatlán. He pointed to their involvement in volunteer groups that help in local schools and other projects, such as the protection of animals. He said, “They are a very active part of Mazatlán and the community.”
Óscar Tirado, Head of Immigration in Sinaloa, said that beginning this month the agency tracks the number of arriving international tourists. He noted that the bulk of the tourists arrive in December and there is another group that arrives during mid-January and February.
